Meet Rabbi Abrams
Sometimes called "The Networking Rabbi" for his community outreach within the Networking world, the Spiritual Leader of Mobile Rabbinical Chaplaincy Service is available for all life cycle events, including weddings, hospital visitation, hospice care and end-of-life counseling and services, as well as conversion and Judaic study.
His Judaic studies range from Los Angeles to New York to Jerusalem, where Rabbi Abrams has learned with some of the highest regarded Rabbanim in the world. A inaugural Student at the first Conservative Day School in Los Angeles, studying under Rabbis Jacob Pressman and Stuart Kelman, he also trained under the wings of Rabbi Hillel Silverman and Chazzanim Carl Urstein (z"l) and Joseph Gole, he has literally learned from those who "wrote the book and the music" enjoyed by millions of Jews worldwide.
His highlights in education have been having the opportunity to study Talmud with R' Pesach Schindler in Jerusalem and with his wonderful friends and colleagues at and affiliated with the Union for Traditional Judaism. Rabbi Abrams considers Rabbi Ronald Price, the Executive Director of the UTJ a significant role model and mentor. His initial Smicha gained while in Jerusalem was enhanced by "Yoreh Yoreh" distinction in *New York City in 2009.
As a writer, Rabbi Abrams writes about his experiences and views on many (mostly Judaic) subjects in his column, "Normal is Overrated", which is published online and e-mailed to over 11,000 subscribers.
He is available to the community for any spiritual need. To contact Rabbi Abrams; Sunday through Sundown Friday, or to receive his column via e-mail, please send a short note to rabbiabrams@live.com. For emergencies including injury, illness, hospitalization or other events that may require immediate pastoral care, please call the Rabbi at 818.584.2929. He is available Twenty-Four hours a day. Rabbi Abrams the proud father of Sara, Zac, Dylan and Tyler.
*Although Yoreh Yoreh distinction was granted by Rabbi Joseph Gelberman (z"l), Rabbi Abrams has absolutely no affiliation with Roger Ross or their program for "Modern Rabbis" who practice non-halakhic Judaism, nor does he accept the "spirit" with which a "Modern Rabbi" practices as his. Rabbi Abrams follows Halakha as written in the Torah and as accepted by Traditional Betei Din according to the Chief Rabbinate of the State of Israel.
